About Trevor Hodges

Trevor Hodges is the author of The Colour Series of young adult novels aimed at teenagers and adults who remember growing up in the 1970s, 80s and 90s.

Trevor spent over thirty years as a teacher in New South Wales schools, ending his career in 2017 as the principal of Nimbin Central School. While the books draw on his experience as an educator, they are very accessible to young readers and anyone who remembers Countdown on the ABC.

The books are fun and heartwarming but don’t avoid addressing issues facing young people growing up in today’s online, connected world.

Book cover titled "Seeing Colours" by Trevor Hodges, featuring an illustration of a girl with red hair and a boy with dark hair sitting on a ledge by a river, playing a guitar and relaxing at sunset with colorful sparkles and a floating treasure chest in the background.

“You’re not the first person to feel lost at this school”

Moving in with his grandmother doesn’t get Jay away from his problems, but at least he’s a long way from his mum.

Desperate to know the truth about his father, struggling with guilt, and longing for his (now-ex) girlfriend Chloe leads to unexpected outbursts from his mouth and brain.

Not a great way to start at a new school.

Placed in a band with Penny, Nate and Rebel, Jay plunges headfirst into preparations for EdFest, his new school’s arts festival. With a growing attraction to the lead singer, his band finds itself in a frantic race to get ready in time.

In this rollercoaster sequel to Seeing Colours, Jay finds new friends, new love, and new ways to dig into his family’s past. The only problem is that when you go digging you never really know what you’ll uncover.
